Heritage Lakes

Heritage Lakes

Heritage Lakes is so named for the two water features that provide spots of tranquility in this neighbourhood. The community sits on the southernmost edge of St. Albert and is midsize with ~3,500 people and a median age of 39.4. Heritage Lakes is one of the younger neighbourhoods with development not starting until the 1980s.

The two water features are not the only amenities residents in this community enjoy. Much of the neighbourhood has low density residential housing, with a small pocket of medium density housing on the west side. It’s easy to access one of the many parks located throughout the neighbourhood, and proximity to Edmonton and 170th Street makes commuting easy. Most single family homes retail on the higher end of $390,000.

St. Albert Transit (StAT) services Heritage Lakes with weekday local routes, weekday commuter routes to Edmonton, and Dial A Bus.

History

The City of St. Albert has always been very adept at creating beautiful neighbourhoods where residents love to call home, and Heritage Lakes is no exception.

Development of St. Albert’s older neighbourhoods started around the 1950s. By the time Heritage Lake was under construction in the 1980s, council had an even better idea of what residents wanted in a neighbourhood. Therefore, this community has many green spaces, water features, and access to schools, all while being ideally situated along a major commuter route.

For these reasons, and more, Heritage Lakes enjoys one of the highest lengths of tenure in St. Albert, meaning that out of those surveyed, 40% or more reported living in the neighbourhood for 5-9 years.

Those looking for a newer, walkable community with affordable single family homes and quick access to Edmonton are right to choose the beautiful neighbourhood of Heritage Lakes.
